Cross Country
Mt. Bethel Christian Academy has both girls and boys Cross Country teams that compete during the fall season.
Normal Practice dates will be Mon, Tues, and Thurs 3:30 – 4:30. Practice dates are subject to change depending on scheduled meets.
Please remember that all schedules are tentative and that veracross always has the most up to date changes.
2011 Results
8/20/11 – The cross country teams had their first meet of the season at the Early Bird Invitational hosted by North Cobb Christian School early Saturday morning. Low temps made for fast runners. The boys finished 4th overall with captain Chase rainbow finishing 3rd as an individual. The girls had a great run and ended up as the 2nd place runner up. Captain Sarah Flatt finished 7th as an individual. It was a great start to a promising season.
8/25/11 – The Cross Country teams traveled to JJ Biello Park in Woodstock to run in the Crown Invitational. It was extremely hot, but the runners did well. The boys took 3rd place with Chase rainbow (5th) and Jake Guthrie (8th) both placing in the top ten. The girls finished runner up once again with Sarah Flatt (5th), Marlena Sculac (6th), Ashley McCown (7th) , and Aline O’Neill (9th) all finishing in the top 10.
9/1 – The Cross Country teams traveled to Perimeter for their biggest meet so far this season. Seven schools were represented with 100+ runners in each race. The girls placed 3rd overall led by Sarah Flatt (8th), Marlena Sculac (12th), Aline O’Neill (16th), Ashley McCown (21st) and Mackenzie Smith (22nd). The Boys also placed third overall. Chase Rainbow decided to go ahead and beat everyone as he was the boys individual winner (1st) followed by Jake Guthrie (4th), Sam Pugmire (18th), Baylor Rainbow (30th), and Bailey Yeager (32nd).
9/8/ – The cross country teams ran at an extremely large meet hosted by Wesleyan. There were 17 girls schools represented with 249 runners. Our girls placed 8th overall, which is very good considering the size of the schools they competed against. Captain Sarah Flatt placed 26th as an individual. The boys race was even larger with 19 schools and 269 runners. They placed 10th everall. Again, a good placement considering schools represented. Chase Rainbow finished 4th as an individual, and Jake Guthrie came in 14th. Both boys earned a medal for their efforts.
9/15 – The Cross Country teams travelled to Perimeter for a 17 school meet, and both teams ran well placing 5th overall respectively. The boys were led by 8th graders Chase Rainbow and Jake Guthrie who placed 5th and 19th as individuals. The girls were led by 7th grader Sarah Flatt who placed 16th, and 6th grader Marlena Sculac who finished 20th. There were about 150+ runners in each race.
9/28/11 – The cross country teams travelled to Pinecrest for the first time ever and ran exceptionally well. Seven schools were represented across the three NAML divisions. Our girls placed 2nd overall in a 60+ runner race. Captain Sarah Flatt (7th) led the way placing 4th as an individual followed by Marlena Sculac (6th) who placed tenth. Both girls received medals for their effort. The boys placed third overall in a 60+ runner race. Captain Chase Rainbow (8th) led our boys and all the other boys as well placing 1st as an individual. This is Chase’s second individual win on the season, and he broke the Pinecrest 1.6 mile course record with a time of 9:48. Jake Guthrie(8th) also placed 7th. Both Boys received a medal for their effort.
9/30 – The Cross Country teams travelled to Mt. Paran an Friday and had a great showing. There were 8 Schools represented including 3 public feeder programs. Each race had 80+ runners. Our girls finished 3rd overall and brought home another trophy on the season. Sarah Flatt finished 5th as an individual followed by Marlena Sculac -12th, Aline O’Neill – 21st, and Ashley McCown -22nd. The boys placed 5th overall led by Chase Rainbow – 6th and Jake Guthrie – 17th. All of our runners in the top 15 earned medals for their effort.
10/3 – AA NAML CHAMPIONSHIP – It was a perfect day for running as we hosted the NAML AA Cross Country Championship meet. There were 7 of the 9 AA schools in attendance including Mt. Bethel, Crown, Notre Dame, Kings Ridge, Eastside, North Cobb, and Holy Redeemer. Our girls finished 2nd overall in a 75+ girl’s race led by captain Sarah Flatt who earned another medal by placing 5th as an individual. Also adding to the team score were Marlena Sculac – 11th, Aline O’Neill – 13th, and Jaqueline Lewis – 19th. The boys placed 3rd as a team in a 90+ boys race with captain Chase Rainbow placing 2nd and medaling as an individual. Other scoring boys included Jake Guthrie – 10th, Sam Pugmire – 16th, and Bailey Yeager – 17th. This was a great end to a great season.
