Community Service

(Download Eagle Service Application and Approval Form – PDF)

The purpose of the Eagles Service Program is to teach students the joy of selflessly serving others in the name of Jesus Christ. This is done by showing the love of Christ to those in need through practical deeds in obedience to God’s command to spread His love through word and deed.

At Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, we are committed to helping our students learn and grow as followers of Jesus Christ. Learning to serve and sacrifice in humility and to develop good work habits will help them grow in character, wisdom and discernment.

Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Middle School believes that young people need the opportunity to give back to their community. To help meet that goal, MBCA has scheduled one day in the fall and one day in the spring devoted to doing community service in our area. Students will be off campus at various locations committed to providing service to organizations that need our help. Every student is a participant and are provided the opportunity to help others.

Eligibility
All students in grades 6-8. To be promoted to the next grade, a student must complete a minimum of the following hours of Eagles Service for each year of study at MBCA:

6th Grade – 10 hours

7th Grade – 15 hours

8th Grade – 20 hours

Students are not limited to the minimum requirement of hours per school year. Eagles Service Hours can be accumulated from 6th grade through 8th grade. Special recognition will be given to those who go over and above the requirements. Eagles Service Hours completed during the summer will be applied to the upcoming school year, not the previous year.

Agency Selection
Each student will have an opportunity to choose his/her own agency and/or project with prior permission from the school. Students are responsible for completing the form in order to receive credit for their hours. After completion of service, the student will submit the Eagles Service Program Application to the Middle School office.

Christian Organizations
Because the Eagles Service Program’s emphasis is on involvement of Christian young people in the local community, we wish to emphasize that although we do want to assist all worthwhile community organizations, a primary goal should be to give assistance to organizations and outreaches that are part of your church’s involvement in Christian community.

Guidelines for Service Activities
All service must be completed at a non-profit agency or with a person or persons who have a demonstrated need. Services for which a student is paid may not be counted. Participation in school clubs and sports may not count.
