Governor Nathan Deal signed a bill designed to protect young athletes from the serious impact of concussions.

The bill requires public and private schools across Georgia to create concussion policies. Schools will have to pull players if they show signs of concussion and get all-clears from doctors before letting young athletes return.

During Tuesday's signing, Governor Deal was joined by 12-year-old Tyler Alcala, a 6th grade student at Mt. Bethel Christian Academy and lacrosse player who knows all about the seriousness of concussions.

Tyler Alcala suffered a concussion after being hit in the head by a ball during a lacrosse clinic. Tyler was by the governor's side when he signed the bill at 9 a.m.
