In the summer of 1997, a small group of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church members were commissioned to analyze the interest and demand throughout our community for Christ-centered education for our children. For over 20 years, Mt. Bethel had offered one of East Cobb's most respected pre-schools. The possibility of continuing that tradition of Christ-centered excellence with lower, middle and upper school students was the focus of the committee's analysis. The conclusion was the demand for quality Christian education far exceeded the supply of available options for parents, particularly in the immediate area. Following an extensive feasibility study the MBUMC congregation voted overwhelmingly to found Mt. Bethel Christian Academy in the fall of 1998. On August 21, 1998, the Academy opened with two kindergarten classes. The Academy now serves over 620 students in Junior Kindergarten-12th Grade.
The Academy enjoys full dual accreditation through the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
The Academy shares two beautiful campuses with Mt. Bethel UMC. Our main campus, home to lower and middle school, is located at 4385 Lower Roswell Road and includes soccer fields, baseball fields, a double gym with elevated walking track, and 215,000 square feet of fixed buildings making this campus environment a very stimulating place for students to grow and learn. The newly acquired upper school campus is located at 2509 Post Oak Tritt Road and is home to grades 9-12. The upper school campus includes an indoor and outdoor gymnasium, playing fields, tennis courts, swimming pool, a circuit training room and newly renovated offices and classrooms. Both campuses enjoy stocked ponds for fishing and nature areas.
