Studio Art 8

Students in this class will use a wide variety of art materials. They will delve deeper into the creative proces and learn new vocabulary and concepts.

Students will review and further develop fundamental drawing and design skills used in fine art. We will discuss and apply the 7 Elements of Art and the 7 Principles of Design to create compositions. Some art history and the lives of artists will be discussed as we learn new skills and techniques. The body of work produced in this class will include drawing, painting, printmaking, 3-dimensional art, and mixed media collage. This year, students will also learn how to create formal two-point perspective. Students will complete approximately 8-10 projects for the year. It is important to remember that art at this level and above is process oriented and will typically require several class periods to complete.
