Middle School Band

Mt. Bethel Christian Academy offers band classes from 6th grade through 12th grade. These classes perform regularly throughout the academic year. The MCBA bands aim to foster students' musical interests and enhance their musical education through a well-tailored curriculum and a variety of performances.

There are six different ensembles in the Band program: four in Middle School and two in Upper School, including the Worship Band, which meets outside of normal class time. These ensembles perform at various nights throughout the year such as Grandparents Day, Veterans Day, Christmas concerts, Night of the Arts, Spring concerts, and other special events.

  • 6th Grade Band: Primarily made up of beginning instrumentalists. We aim to foster students' musical interests by establishing fundamentals as well as playing a wide variety of music genres. No prior music experience is required.
  • 7th Grade Band: Reviews concepts that were taught in 6th grade and further expands on core musical fundamentals. The students play pieces at various levels of difficulty ranging from easy to pieces that will strengthen and expand the student's abilities.
  • 8th Grade Band: The most performed ensemble in Middle School. Students will perform musical pieces in chamber groups (duets, trios, quartets, etc.) as well as perform compositions as a whole group. Members will have the opportunity to mentor 6th grade students who may be struggling with playing their instruments or having trouble reading music.
  • Concert Band: Combined ensemble between all band classes. All students will be rehearsing Concert Band music during class time, and then will meet together occasionally to rehearse the music as a whole ensemble. This ensemble will have opportunities to play in music festivals and other events outside of the normal concert performances throughout the school year.

Middle School Drama

This Musical Theatre course is designed to allow students to grow as actors, singers, and dancers and is an exploration of American Musical Theatre. Students will study acting techniques and use their gained knowledge to develop as performers. Since this is a workshop course, students prepare material for class presentation and critique. There is also a focus on the audition process as well as musical theatre history. In culmination, students will work toward the Middle School Musical which is performed in the Spring. Students must be enrolled in the Drama course to participate in any school production.
