Music

Music is such an integral part of a student’s healthy development. From Junior Kindergarten to fifth grade students are taught fundamental music elements.
These include music listening, music literacy, musical performance, and musical instruments. Students will also gain an appreciation of music history by studying a composer of the month and a piece of his or her music.

Music at the Academy encompasses a wide variety of areas. Worshipping God through music is an important part of the music classroom. MBCA follows the GA National Music Standards Curriculum, which encomapsses the following components:

Kindergarten - 2nd grades: Students learn concepts such as steady beat, rhythm patterns, pitch, and melody through a variety of activities. Students study composers and instrument families. Students will learn how to play several auxiliary instruments as well as basic notation and music theory. They also learn performance skills and are involved in the Christmas and spring musicals.

3rd - 5th grades: Students learn conducting, music reading, choral techniques, and how to play musical instruments such as the soprano recorder, ukulele, and preband wind instruments. Each student engages in the continual study of composers and instrument families. They, too, learn performance skills and are involved in the Christmas and spring musicals.
