Too often what goes by the name of a Christian education," says George Knight, in Philosophy & Education, "is a secular education with a chocolate coating of Christianity. But we need to remember that it’s the pill, not the coating that works" (2006, p. 38). Here at MBCA, we don't just dab a "chocolate coating" on our educational program; we deliberately challenge students to think critically and to evaluate every subject and experience through a Biblical lens. Contrary to the prevailing view swirling around us, learning and faith are not either-or propositions. Only through a commitment to both a high-quality program and an authentic Biblical worldview can we provide a complete education. I hope you enjoy our continuing series of communications as we prepare for a new school year -- this time sharing some fantastic news on the academic front with new and expanded programs and structures we've put in place to further enhance our already stellar program. This email highlights our commitment to Academic Excellence & Spiritual Growth as we continue to bring our mission alive!
A new digital production studio has just been completed on the Upper School Campus and is being outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment. Media teacher and former TV & film producer/writer Mr. Stephen Burton has recently returned from a summer of specialized training that will help him inspire the next generation of media producers and filmmakers.
AP Statistics
In addition to AP Calculus AB and BC (and other honors and AP courses) we now have another advanced math option for those who want to be prepared to excel in a competitive college math-centric major.
Upper School Math Support
For those to whom math doesn't come as easily as other subjects, we have hired new teachers and added specialized classes to provide extra support with a more deliberate pace to help every student successfully master these necessary skills.
New Fall Sports
Middle School softball was such a success last year, it has come to the Upper School for 2022-2023. Our MBCA football program has now expanded into the 7th and 8th grades (middle school team), with our feeder team now extending down to 4th grade.
Computer Classes for 3rd-5th Grades
Our Lower School STEM (Think Tank) teacher, Ms. Kellie Stamm, will be guiding students in ethical digital citizenship, essential computing skills, and keyboarding.
More to come:
We have added stellar professionals to our faculty and will be welcoming many new students and families this year. Our next communication will feature updates on personnel and enrollment. Enjoy the last full week of summer as we look excitedly towards the new year!
Blessings,
Dr. Jim Cianca
