I remember the wonder of my first visit to Disney World when I was six years old. I recall the excitement of my first bike ride, my first horseback ride, and the very first time I received an email (imagine, a letter that didn’t need real paper)! I also remember the alarm bells that went off in my head the first time I got a parking ticket and the first time I tasted sauerkraut.
The power of firsts is that they set the tone for many more experiences to come. That’s why at MBCA, we seek to set the tone of our new year with a slate of deliberate firsts. We bring our whole JK-12th grade community together for Convocation, our Middle and Upper Schools carefully plan impactful overnight retreats, we hold community and athletic events like the Back-to-School Bash and Friday Night Lights, and we foster collaboration with parents through opening-week conferences and meet-and-greet opportunities. These are times that help us focus on our missional objectives: academic excellence, spiritual growth, and a lifelong love and desire for learning. We are intentional about community, where every student is known, every family is important, and every staff member is valued – and together we can accomplish our mission.
As we enjoy these annual experiences as a community, firsts that set the tone for the year, I am reminded of a verse from our Bible book of the year: “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing” (I Thessalonians 5:11).
May God bless Mt. Bethel Christian Academy as we embark on a wonderful year together!
Parents vs. Coaches Game, Winter Sports Kick-off, and Bruce Crevier highlight the event on Thursday, October 30, at 6:00 p.m., at the CAC on the Lower & Middle Schools Campus.
